The Dutch Experience

2nd International Conference at Leusden, Netherlands

Former invitation by extract:

"Dear friends and collegues,

We are pleased to invite you to the international conference on socratic dialogue. As a response to the growing interest in the Socratic Method and its Dutch application in organizing and business, we are planning a socratic week in The Netherlands.

You will be given the opportunity to take part in a regular three day's socratic dialogue, in English. An experienced facilitator from Germany, England or the Netherlands will work with each group on a philosophical question. This will take place from Sunday until Wednesday evening. You are also offered the opportunity to practise elementary steps in socratic dialogue in workgroups, and/or to participate in a short dialogue, as is common in Dutch business-practices and to attend paper-presentations. This last part of the conference will take place from Thursday-morning to Saturday.

The conference is organized by Dutch Socratics in cooperation with the International School of Philosophy ISVW, with the generous help and subsidy of the above mentioned (Dutch) ISVW, the Philosophisch-Politische Akademie, PPA (Germany) and the Society for the Furtherance of Critical Philosophy, SFCP (Britain)

The programme will (...) include several evening activities as well as some for social activities. (...)
Financial support can be given to those who need it to assist with the conference fee. Please decide for yourself whether you need such support and feel free to let us know on the enrolment form. (Since the budget is limited, priority will be given to those who wish to participate in the last three days of the conference (b). Financial support will be granted in order of receipt of applications!)

Yours sincerely,

Hella van den Elshout and Jos Delnoij
On behalf of the Dutch Socratics"
